This program was initially written to help me identify plants in my garden beds around my house.
The program allows you to load pictures of your property, the garden beds and the plants around your home or property.
- You can load details for multiple properties but must always work on a default property which you can set from the Menu. You only need to identify the Default property if you have multiple properties..
- You can then load a number of plants and enter test and pictures to identify the plants. Each plant must have a unique Identifier which will be used to help identify the plants.
- You can then load the garden bed details with text and pictures. It is imperative that the garden beds have at least one picture as this will be used in the cross referencing to the plants.
- Cross reference the garden bed to the pictures by loading a bed details and then clicking on the plant you want to identify which will take you to a screen which will allow you to select a plant from the list of plants already loaded. The list can be shortened by putting search criteria for a word. eg” Gum” and click refresh would bring up all plants with the word “Gum” in its given name, botanical name or its description. Each time you select a plant a yellow dot is assigned to that spot on the picture of the bed. If you do not select a picture then a white dot will appear on the screen. You can hide the dots if you do not want to see them.
- On most screens you have the ability to Zoom the picture which will give you a bigger picture of the selected picture.
- There are some very basic reports.
- When you load pictures they may load facing the wrong way. You will see on the screens where they were loaded that the Right Click button will rotate the picture 90%
The Menu across the top of the screen allows you to display Help information plus several other options in the program.
Have fun.
Download the install program, click here to download.
Download the .zip install file. As with all downloads use your anti virus program to check its security. This was checked and was OK at time of placing on the web site. If the Help button does not work after the install installation close and reopen the program and the help should work.
Once downloaded double click on the .zip install file and run the .msi file. This will install the program. It does need to change the registry so you may get a warning. Override and continue and the program will be installed and loaded. On the first run of the program “SimpleGarden” you may be asked if you want to create a Shortcut for running the program. Select Yes if a shortcut was not created during the load process and this will create a shortcut on the desktop.
